“On International Women’s Day New Democrats remember the women whose determination and sacrifice paved the way for the dynamic women who are shaping our present, and the next generation of young women who will steer Ontario’s future. We’ve come a long way together, but there’s more work to do yet.
Intelligent, resourceful, and skilled women have earned the opportunity to succeed in every field. Yet women still make 72 cents for every dollar earned by their male counterparts. I’m proud to serve the public in the Ontario Legislature alongside strong female colleagues in the NDP Caucus, and on both sides of the floor, but women are still under-represented in politics and in leadership roles.
As a society we can do better. Together we can put an end to violence against women. Together we can bring down the glass ceiling once and for all. Together we can make gender equity real in Ontario.”
